Gemstone Carbide Scrapers
I'm delighted to be able to bring you a new style of carbide scrapers; this is my ever-popular complete set of nine handles and nine scraper tips (plus a spare red tip, so ten total) supplied in a functional storage time, now featuring an array of all-natural yet super-colourful semiprecious gemstone identifiers!
I discovered years ago that colour-coding my tools is a great way to work more quickly and easily, as it makes hunting for that specific tool so much easier. The standard scraper handles are colour coded using super-sparkly genuine Swarovski crystals along with resin cat-eye beads that capture the light, specifically chosen as they make the tools ore visible even in low lights.
The tin the scrapers are supplied in serves several purposes - it protects the scrapers during transit and make a great travel case for your tools, also, once you have assembled your tools, you can use the tin to protect the sharp tips (and protect yourself from accidental stabs!) by laying the tools in the tin with the sharp scraper tips to the right - the foam strips inside the tin will hold them in place and prevent them moving around and getting damaged.
Recently my daughter began (as so many youngsters do) collecting semi-precious gemstones, minerals and crystals and I have really enjoyed getting to know what the natural world has to offer her. However we soon discovered that there are so many heat-treated, dyed and simply fake gems out there that I was soon on a deep-dive into working out how to tell the real-deals from the fakes, and now I've developed a bit of a fascination with this subject too.
As a long-time lover of all things colourful, I set off hunting for the boldest and brightest gemstones I could lay my hands on, and I'm thrilled to have been able to curate these special selections of all natural gemstones that, as far as I can possibly tell, have not been treated or enhanced in any way (with one exception - the deep blue Kyanite beads have been stabilised as this crystal is quite fragile otherwise, but their unique natural blue colour is so deep and beautiful that I felt compelled to include them). I've learnt so much about natural gemstones vs. fakes, but there is always more to learn, so these tools are backed by a natural-gemstone guarantee (replacement identifier) - should I ever unintentionally supply one a wrong-un!
One thing is for sure, and that is that, as natural items, no two gemstones are the same! So on that note, these sets have been specially curated to ensure the stones compliment each other in tone and size, that they are the best quality, each have intriguing features, whilst still making your tools easy to reach for and find when you need them! Each set is as individual and unique as you are, so have a look and see which one speaks to you, and would add interest and a little luxury to your sculpting/prepping tool box!
In addition to the complete gemstone tool set, I'm happy to provide these handles as singles, coded in other colours (eg teal, black etc) should you wish to make your tools from other sources part of your set too. For instance, I have my awesome Rio Rondo larger round scraper (totally recommend that alongside my tools!) in a black coded handle, following on from the largest tip in my set which is grey, but you can choose whichever colour feel right for you! Note that I may have to source the right gemstone beads specifically for these additional colours, so see the photos for what I have available and if I don't already have them, add a few weeks to the lead time to allow me to find the perfect gemstone for you. Please use the custom text box to make any requests, I'm sorry but I can't mix-and-match across the sets. Please note single handles do not come with a scraper tip, these can be ordered via the singles page here.
The photos are large to show as much detail as possible, please allow time for them to load. Photos show each set on both a dark and a light background, as the gemstones change appearance on different backgrounds. Photos are all taken in natural daylight (albeit a dull as this is England, after all!) and the photos are unedited. Red stones appear brighter in the photos, I've not edited any of the photos but please note the red stones are more of a russet-red than a pillarbox red.
I will be adding more options as I source new gemstones, for now I have a lovely selection and I hope you will enjoy looking through them. These sets are a wonderful way to treat yourself to something that little bit special, they also make excellent gifts for the creative friend!
