Meet “Puro Capriole”!
Puro Capriole is a reworked variation on my "Capriole" sculpture. Translating as “Pure Capriole”, his name reflects his more purist look, performing the Capriole as so often expected and depicted in historic illustrations.
The original Capriole model however, is perfectly accurate too; in all definitions of the term, "Capriole" means "to leap" (it was formed from the words “leap” and “goat” in fact) and to kick out with the back legs, no reference is made to the front legs and I’ve seen pretty much every possible variation of the pose and indeed there are many! Horses train to perform the Capriole, they are not judged for their performance as they are in our model horse world so I would expect both Capriole and Puro Capriole to compete equally at model horse shows. Think of Capriole as Puro Capriole’s more extravagant, theatrical brother!
If Capriole is the more flamboyant brother, then Puro Capriole is the studious, pedantic and meticulous brother who thinks things should be done "just so", and therefore when he performs his Airs Above the Ground, he is sure to place every limb exactly as he has been trained to do.
Puro Capriole is a very small limited run of resin castings that will be produced in May 2019. I won't have an exact number until the mould is played out but estimate just a few dozen copies, so have limited the number offered now to ensure I am able to deliver them. Any additional copies will be made available once cast. Each copy will be cast by me in my signature tan resin and supplied as clean copies ready to prep and paint, along with a "glass-look" acrylic base.
