NOT JUST A HORSE

mULTI-MODEL PROJECT BASED ON A sm stallion, mare AND foal
Not Just a Horse is a project I've been working on that will ultimately produce 12 models.  Based on a stablemate scale family featuring a Spanish Stallion, a more generic Spanish/Warmblood type Mare and their newborn Foal.

The three horses have individual names too - the stallion is named Latigazo, which is the Spanish work for Whiplash.  I was battling soft tissue injuries while I sculpted him and given his dramatic direction-changing pose, it suited him.  The mare is named Amaranthine which means unfading, eternal, immortal, infinite. Also used in relation to an imaginary flower that never fades (which is a beautiful reddish shade of magenta).  Finally, little Iris the foal, whilst neither a filly or colt (too small and impossibly positioned to display any gender) is named as such because Iris translates in many languages to rainbow, which is such a colourful and happy thought that I just had to choose it.
The models are a limited edition, though the numbers will be dictated by the behavior of the moulds (and my sanity as to how many of these difficult-to-cast models I can handle making!).  I am casting these myself so you can be sure of a great quality casting and finish with each resin copy receiving my personal attention before issue.

As I am casting them, I don't want to commit to too many copies at any one point so am releasing them in batches.

The edition is being cast in a mixture of white and tan artist resin copies.  Tan resin is just white resin with a little pigment added.  I have found tan resin to be much easier to clean (resulting in cleaner models leaving the studio to you) and easier to prep which is better for the prepping and finishwork artist.  Tan resin also looks a little more lifelike as the models await their new paint as part of your collection.  Tan and white copies will be offered as the edition progresses.

Here are a couple of early photos illustrating the who colours on offer.  I will add more in detail photos soon.

Christmas 2018 Special Run

This limited edition special run of models features Amaranthine and Iris in an array of jewel-like casts.  Most are to be supplied in a mare/foal sets, but there are also a few "singles" that can also be mixed and matched.  The single models are the first shown in the gallery below.  Cast in my own special way these models are all unique - from a subtle sheen to a full blown Christmas sparkle, I'm sure there is something to tempt most collectors.  To be released on the evening of Wednesday 19th December (GMT).
I do not recommend these models are painted (they are already beautiful!) but in theory they could be painted as long as they are very thoroughly de-greased due to the wax-based release agents I use during casting.  A couple of the models are not suitable for painting as they are not as rigid as standard white resin, those ones will be noted during the sale.  I only have one of each of the models below, I've taken 2-3 photos of each model/set to show the gorgeous colours and effects they have.
